The Breath of God

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…” 2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is God-breathed, but everything I say is Carole-breathed. All Scripture is profitable. Everything I say, sadly, is not. Who would you rather listen to? I hope you say God!

After the Exodus, Moses wanted the people to understand the importance of God’s words and His commandments. He said to the people, “man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Deuteronomy 8:3 The Word of God is the foundation for life itself. Reading it, meditating on it, knowing it, is not only profitable but necessary. No one else’s words have that kind of power. That is humbling. I like to talk. I talk a lot. I am rarely at a loss for words. And now I am writing a blog—more words. How can I assure that what I am saying or writing is in any way worthwhile?

Years ago I came across the acronym, WAIT. I wish I could remember the source of this acronym so that I could properly thank the author, because it has been life-changing. WAIT—Why Am I Talking?  Is what I am saying in accordance with God’s Word? Is what I am saying about God’s Word an accurate interpretation and according to His intent? Is what I am saying pleasing to Him? If it is, then it should be worthwhile. Therefore, that needs to be my prayer.  I pray that this blog brings His Word to you. After all, the Scriptures are the very breath of God.
